Trass is a natural pozzuolana. Natural pozzuolana is the natural rock described as in TS EN 197-1 and identified reactive SiO2 content is minimum 25,0% by mass.
Natural pozzuolana is the material creating resistance by showing hydraulic characteristic by forming calcium silicate and calcium aluminate compounds with calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2] solved at normal ambient temperature in the presence of water and when it is ground finely and not showing hydraulic characteristics. Essentially, it is formed by reactive silicium dioxide (SiO2) and aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and remaining comprises of iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3).
Trass requirement is met from the quarries close to our plant.
After determining the hydraulic characteristic (pozzolanic activity) of natural pozzuolana in pressure created by water and slacked lime [Ca(OH)2] when it is ground finely, its suitability as the additive is determined.
